Data deletion

This page describes how to ask Barq for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. These rights are anchored in the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law (§§13, 14, and Amendment 13's limited-deletion right) and in Barq's contractual obligations to Meta as a Platform user.
1. For Barq customers (business owners)
- Sign in to your Barq dashboard.
- Open Settings → Account → Delete account. (Until that in-product flow ships, email us at the address below — we will action the request manually.)
- On confirmation, Barq deletes your account, your knowledge base, your channel connections, and your conversation history within ninety (90) days. Rolling backups are overwritten on the next 30-day cycle. Where law requires us to retain specific records (for example, tax and accounting), those records are kept only for the minimum period required and then deleted.
2. For end customers (people who messaged a business that uses Barq)
The business you messaged is the controller of that conversation under your Barq account — they hold the relationship with you and are the right first contact. Please contact the business directly first and ask them to delete your messages from their Barq account.
If they will not or cannot act, email privacy@heybarq.com from the same channel address you used to message the business, with:
- the business name or phone number you messaged;
- the phone number or social-media handle you sent the messages from;
- a short description of what you would like deleted (all conversations / a specific date range / specific content).
Barq will acknowledge within seven (7) days and complete the deletion within thirty (30) days, subject to verification of your identity and to any legal-retention exception that applies.
3. For Facebook and Instagram users (Meta-platform deletion)
If you previously connected a Facebook page or an Instagram Business account to Barq and you want us to delete the data we retained about that connection, you can:
- Disconnect the app at Facebook Business Integrations. Removing Barq there causes Meta to send Barq a signed deletion request, which Barq honours automatically.
- Or email privacy@heybarq.com with the Facebook user ID, page name, or Instagram handle.
Barq operates a signed-request data-deletion callback at https://api.heybarq.com/webhooks/data-deletion for Meta App Review; status confirmation URLs returned by that endpoint redirect to this page.
4. Access and correction (PPL §§13 and 14)
You can also request a detailed account of the personal data Barq holds about you (§13) or ask Barq to correct inaccurate data (§14). Send the request to privacy@heybarq.com. We will acknowledge within seven (7) days and respond within a reasonable period taking the request and applicable law into account.
5. What we delete
- Account profile (name, email, business details).
- Channel credentials (encrypted Meta access tokens) and any webhook subscriptions Barq holds for your accounts.
- Knowledge base content (FAQs, hours, menu, custom fields).
- Conversation history (incoming and outgoing messages, voice-note transcriptions, delivery and read metadata).
- Configuration and preferences.
Operational logs that contain only redacted technical metadata (without conversation content) are deleted on the rolling ~90-day cycle described in the Privacy Policy §5. Where a specific record must be retained to defend a legal claim or to comply with tax law, Barq retains that record only for the minimum required period.
6. Sub-processor propagation
Barq instructs its sub-processors (listed at /sub-processors) to delete copies of your data they hold on Barq's behalf, on the schedule their contracts with us provide for. The AI provider does not retain prompt content for training; any short-term abuse-monitoring records it holds age out on the provider's default retention window (currently up to ninety days).
7. Written confirmation
You can ask for written confirmation that your deletion request has been completed. Reply to the same email thread, or write fresh to privacy@heybarq.com.
